The Liberal Democrats have a proud record in Montgomeryshire, Powys, of representing local people on our local councils, on the National Assembly in Wales and at the Westminster Parliament.

Lembit Öpik has been the Member of Parliament for Montgomeryshire since 1997 (succeeding Alex Carlile), with Mick Bates being elected to the Welsh Assembly for Montgomeryshire at their first election in 1999.

AMs Back Carno Station Petitioners

Members of the National Assembly Enterprise and Learning Committee met a delegation from Carno for an event at the Senedd yesterday, hosted by Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates. They heard how the completion of the formal business case for the re-opening of Carno Station called for by the committee had been stalled by official inaction over the past year.

Carno Station Petition Shunted Into Siding

The Petitioners for the re-opening of Carno Station are travelling to the National Assembly on June 24th to a media event hosted by Mick Bates AM to mark the second anniversary of the handover of their petition to the Presiding Officer. They are aggrieved because their petition to have Carno station re-opened has been stalled for the last year.
