A vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for more nurses and better mental health services, Nick Clegg has said today on a visit to Montgomeryshire to support Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate Jane Dodds.

The Liberal Democrats are the only party to have committed to delivering £8bn extra real terms funding by 2020 as advocated by Simon Stevens the Chief Executive of NHS England.  This extra funding would directly benefit the Welsh budget by up to £450m.  The Welsh Liberal Democrats have stated that this money would help fund Kirsty Williams’ ‘More Nurses’ bill and improved mental health services.

“The Liberal Democrats’ £8bn NHS funding pledge means £450 million would go directly to Wales.  That’s millions of pounds that can go towards Kirsty Williams' plan for more nurses on Welsh wards and better mental health services for Welsh patients."
