The future of education across Montgomeryshire has been called into question again as Powys County Council launch its Secondary School Review. This happens with the backdrop of budget cuts, falling school roles and a poor Estyn report for Wales in general. There were only 3 Excellent Secondary schools in the whole of Wales last year.
Jane Dodds, Welsh Liberal Democrat Candidate for Montgomeryshire today said "These are difficult times for students, their parents and communities. Threats to any possible disruption are always difficult to deal with and are really worrying."
"I am concerned that recent speculation will add to those concerns when our young people should be concentrating on their GCSEs and A Levels."
"The standard of our children’s education should be second to none, in order to prepare them all for future jobs and careers. I am making appointments to visit secondary schools in Montgomeryshire so that I can be in the best possible position to help fight for a first class education for all students in Montgomeryshire."
