Öpik Pays Tribute To Peter Law

2.31.04pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 25th Apr 2006

Lembit Öpik, MP for Montgomeryshire and Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, has paid tribute to Peter Law, MP and AM for Blaenau Gwent, who died today:

"Peter was a fighter. He took on the might of the Labour Party - and won. His was a real David and Goliath story and we should truly respect his principles and conviction, qualities reflected by his election to parliament.

"He was a skillful, hard-working and committed politician.

"Political life in Westminster and in Wales will be the less colourful for Peter Law's passing on."
