Preem Restaurant "Highly commended" in Curry Comp - Öpik3.25.49pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 25th Jun 2009 The Preem restaurant of Newtown has been Highly Commended in the prestigious Veetee Tiffin Cup competition. The competition is held each year to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country. The Veetee Tiffin Cup winner is chosen from a list of restaurants that have been nominated by local MPs. This year 58 restaurants were nominated. The Preem restaurant of Newtown was nominated by Lembit Öpik, Liberal Democrat MP for Montgomeryshire. Keith Vaz MP, the co chair of the Veetee Tiffin Cup said: "We are delighted that Preem restaurant has been Highly Commended in the Veetee Tiffin Cup 2009. This is a great tribute not just to the nomination of local MP, Lembit Öpik but also to the constituency of Montgomeryshire as a whole." Local MP, Lembit Öpik said: "I am very proud that Preem has achieved such a great placing in this prestigious competition. This award is testament to the fantastic efforts of all the staff at Preem. We're blessed with a number of great restaurants in Montgomeryshire, many of which I have frequented. Now it is Preem's chance to shine. Today they have the right to feel first amongst their worthy equals."
