ENVIRONMENTAL champion Michael Butterfield will share his experiences of ridding the countryside of nuisance litter!
As the shocking rise in littering throughout Wales hit the headlines this summer, Mr Butterfield and his team of volunteers collected a staggering amount of waste around the picturesque Brecon Beacons National Park. In September alone they collected 2292 cans, 707 throwaway cups and 1129 plastic bottles from 232 miles of roadside verges.
Mr Butterfield has been an environmental entrepreneur since 2009 when he led the town of Llangattock to win the nationwide British Gas Green Streets Competition.
Llangattock Litter Pickers was one of the amazing projects which emerged from Green Streets and is now in its 11th year.
Michael has a wealth of stories, advice and evidence about the benefits of litter picking by local communities and volunteers and how litter is recycled effectively.
Litter is a massive environmental problem and always on the agenda of councillors whether at community or county level.
Please join us whether you are a volunteer, community or town councillor who wants to find ways of overcoming litter problems or a county councillor with an inbox bulging with complaints about fly tipping and waste.
There will be something for you take away from this debate.
The webinar on Monday, November 2 at 7pm is part of a series jointly run by Montgomeryshire and Brecon and Radnorshire Liberal Democrats.
