Montgomeryshire Helping Refugees in Calais

At the end of January Jane Dodds, Welsh Assembly Candidate for the Montgomeryshire Liberal Democrats will be travelling to the Refugee Camp in Calais France, to volunteer within the Camp.

Jane is specifically looking for donations of warm or new sleeping bags, thick and warm blankets and tarpaulin to deliver to the refugees as weather conditions are deteriorating.

 Jane Dodds says:

“I will be staying in a local youth hostel and helping with basic chores in the camp.

“I plan to take my little car and would like to fill it up with new or good quality sleeping bags, thick blankets and tarpaulin for the refugees. I would be grateful if anyone could donate one or more sleeping bags, blankets, of any colour or tarpaulin; or if you could donate money to buy a new sleeping bag - I will deliver it.

“Refugees in Calais feel isolated and are stick land of limbo, and conditions there are deteriorating as winter sets in. Let's show them that the people of Montgomeryshire are compassionate, caring and generous once again. Thank you/Diolch”

If you are able to donate a sleeping bag, or can help in any way please contact our office at 3 Park Street, Newtown (01686) 625527 or email us at  [email protected] . We are only able to collect donations and sleeping bags up until 23rd January.
